Support and guidance of journalists with a refugee background on their path to a stronger position in the Dutch labor market.
Founded by Nout van Hout, the organisation is now led by former Watoto student Andrea Modest, who was trained as a medical doctor. Boys aged 13 to 15 are first supported in the drop-in centre, after which they enter a four-year school programme that includes vocational training and life skills. A guaranteed traineeship or paid job — for example at their own Kiboko Lodge — is part of the programme.
Over the years, 1,300 boys have graduated from the school programme, resulting in the following outcomes:
We support Watoto because their work goes far beyond temporary aid. They offer long-term support, education, and guidance to street boys, helping them rediscover their self-worth and build a future. Their approach is respectful, effective, and deeply human.
